When retiring to the bedroom, prepare yourself for bed as promptly as possible. Whilst feminine hygiene is of the utmost importance, your tired husband does not want to queue for the bathroom as he would for his train. But remember to look you best when going to bed.

Try to achieve a look that is welcoming without being obvious. If you need to apply face-cream or hair rollers wait until he is asleep as this can be shocking to a man last thing at night. When it comes to the possibility of intimate relations with your husband…

  1. Ok, I’ll bite. I remember seeing a joke that was passed around on a photocopied sheet. First it said how to please a women. It had about 49 different things on the list, and you got the idea that it wasn’t a matter of just picking out one and making your bride or GF happy. It was a constant list to be kept in mind. Then it had a list for the man, how to please a man. 2 things on the list: show up naked. bring beer.
In talking with the guys at work, I found myself making the comment that it isn’t hard for a woman to make a man happy, if of course, she wants to. It takes no effort at all and need only take a few minutes a day. Is that so hard? Is that such a burden? Wasn’t this the man that you love(d)?
Now I know a woman has needs that men don’t meet very well. But I think the question here was about what a woman can do for a man. And this article was written at a time when most women did not have a job outside of the house. Was that such a bad time, when you could live on one income?

    • Larry,

There should never have been a time when this patriarchal attitude should have been allowed or tolerated.

We’ve come a long way since but still have a long way to go. I actually think this “textbook” or its equivalent may well be in use in some parts of the world where women are still treated like men’s possessions. You can guess which parts of the world that is.

It’s just not right – never was.

  2. Absolutely amazed that this was printed in the sixties, and in the UK! Those were the days. Not.
So glad, for half of our species, that we are moving on.
